Help stop wakeboarding being banned
The reason for this long statement and creation of this group is for a call of help and support from all wake boarders and other boating bodies not only locally but state and nationally in relation to the banning of wake boarding on the Wallamba River at Forster Tuncurry NSW.
To fight this ban on the Wallamba river and prevent further bans from happening throughout the state and the nation we need as many supporting numbers as possible locally, state wide and nationally as the larger the supporting body the larger our chances are of overturning the new laws.
As many will read this message and think “ well its not going to affect my area we live 2 hours away or in another state” , think again. Political members of the Green parties and other supporting parties throughout the nation, Water-Ways authorities, councils and along with what many councils refer to as major stakeholders (usually residents) are growing in power and gaining momentum in relation to banning of wakeboarding on river systems all over NSW and other States and Territories. And in the long term will see the banning of recreational skiing/wakeboarding/tubing and other water sports banned in general and having 4 knot zones which is what the ultimate goal was for Wallamba River when this all began in 2002. If this law sticks at Wallamba river it is inevitable that it will become a window of opportunity for banning of wakeboarding at multiple other river and lake systems state and nation wide becoming a domino effect over time.
During this fight against discrimination against wakeboarding I’m asking for your support/help of any kind whether its: -
- Having your own say.
- Writing a letter.
- Informing a friend
- Informing a someone who is knowledgeable about these topics and would be a great asset to help our movement.
- Informing someone who is well known within the wakeboarding sport or wider boating area would greatly boost support.
- Start forum chats,
- Facebook pages/chat etc etc.
Anything to make a statement and voice for the wakeboarding body of Australia to help battle against what many are now referring them to as “the fun police” (Greenies, water-ways, fisheries etc).
